Weight Loss Might Just Be The Most Appealing Benefit of Red Wine

By now I think it is safe to say, we have all heard about some of the health benefits of red wine. But the latest one seems to have captured the attention of a new audience… the ever- so popular group seeking to lose the excess weight.

I have to admit, I wouldn’t have ever thought I would use weight loss and wine in the same sentence. Leave it up to researchers to once again to deliver us with some good news. In these studies, they have shown the ingredient in red wine, Resveratrol, to be responsible for boosting the metabolism. And by doing this we are burning fat which leads to… yep, you guessed it… Weight Loss!

In these studies, when mice were given a high calorie diet they gained less weight when given the supplement Resvertrol. Also, researchers in France found that Resveratrol actually increased the number of mitochondria (energy producing cell components). This increased number of mitochondria can have a significant impact on the body’s ability to produce energy and burn fat.
